Neshoba Central Classic

Girls Middle School Classic at Neshoba High School | October 21, 2023


To kick off the season for several middle school teams, Neshoba Central Middle School hosted a classic featuring boys and girls teams. On the Bench was in attendance to provide some insight on some of the 7th and 8th grade girls participating.

There were very talented players in both age groups; however, we could only list some of the stand out talent. Below, you can find our tip sheet for the day.

Madison Charlie #22 | Neshoba Central Middle | Forward | Fundamentally sound around the rim. Uses her body well to boxout in the paint. Solid finisher in paint, but needs to focus on elevating to get her shot off in traffic. Plays well within her personal skill set.



Milli Dear #3 | 2029 | Neshoba Central Middle | Point Guard | Smallish PG with speed and quickness. Consistently uses change of direction and change of speed in her ball handling. Showed the ability to set up teammates. Capable knocking down the open mid range shot though range did go out to the arc. Ability to get to the basket and when her finishing abilities improve could quickly move her into the elite PG level in her state.

Sahyodi Gomez | 2029 | Neshoba Central Middle | Wing | Smooth wing with the ability to slither between defenders. Consistently finds a way to awkwardly get her shot off in traffic. Soft hands. Good offensive rebounder. Gets her hands on a lot of balls. Length is disruptive on defense as she works the passing lanes. Capable of being a double digit scorer as she learns to not leave points on the floor due to not finishing in the paint. Scorer's mentality.


Laura Eves #13 | 2028 | Nanih Waiya Middle | Forward | Deceptive player with good upside. Finds herself around the ball a lot on the offensive boards. Soft hands with a soft touch. Goes after out-of-area rebounds. length on defense is very disruptive. Nice upside as her shot form and accuracy improves.


Jasmine Hickman #1 | 2028 | Nanih Waiya Middle | Point Guard | Aggressive ball handler under pressure. Very confident and comfortable with the ball in her hands. Facilitator with the ability to change directions. Good court vision, but need to work on getting her head up to create more early offensive moments. Hustles on both ends of the floor.


Taelyn Mingo #10 | 2028 | Neshoba Central Middle | Guard | Demonstrated a high basketball IQ for her age and good court awareness. Excellent teammate. Showed range beyond the arc. Impressive on ball defender skills.


Kylie Spivey #23 | 2028 | Nanih Waiya Middle | Forward | Aggressive o both ends. Slim athletic with the temperament to be a lockdown defender. Keeps ball handler occupied by forcing them to constantly change directions or speeding them up. Shot form needs work, but not afraid to take her shot within her range.


Patience Sumpter #22 | 2028 | NE Lauderdale Middle | Wing | Talented, aggressive wing with a great frame. Solid perimeter game and capable recognizing a matchup mismatch and taking a small player into the paint. Strong in traffic rebounder. Looks to score the ball in the paint. Nice looking jump shot form. As her ball handling catches up to her talent, she will be a problem for most defenses.


Addy Phillips #1 | 2028 | Neshoba Central Middle | Guard | Athletic and very defensive minded. Showed the ability to understand rotations and pressuring multiple ball handlers without fouling. Impressive defensive footwork. Add ball handling and 3 point shooting and she becomes a serious duel threat on the court.

This was an amazing event. The girls showed lots of energy and truly competed.
